Our sister, cousin, aunt, friend, neighbor, and member of our community will finally be able to receive a kidney transplant in June. I am proud to announce I have finally been approved by the transplant committee to become a living donor!!! It was a match from the start!!! With all of our support as always, she will finally be able to go back and work towards her dream of becoming part of a creative team in a major Fashion design company. Yet, as she will have to stay out of work about 3 months she will endure many medical bills in addition to her pricy medications which will put her in a bigger financial hardship situation than what she already is.
A little background on Tania: Tania was diagnosed at the age of 14 with Lupus Nephritis and has been since fighting this tough battle. Lupus Nephritis definition: “Lupus nephritis is inflammation of the kidney that is caused by systemic lupus erythematous (SLE). Also called lupus, SLE is an autoimmune disease. With lupus, the body's immune system targets its own body tissues. Lupus nephritis happens when lupus involves the kidneys. –WebMD” During this battle of not always being able to have much energy to do various things or physically unable, she has showed us that anything is possible. She graduated in 2009 with her Bachelor’s in Fashion Design from Savannah College of Arts and Design in Savannah, and showed us that the phrase “I can’t do this!” should never be an excuse.
In late 2011, she was diagnosed with kidney failure and started dialysis in 2012. Since then she has been on peritoneal dialysis every night and with her energy level and strength being lower many days throughout the week continues to work part-time. After the transplant, Tania will have to take expensive anti-rejection medication for the rest of her life along with her various Lupus related medications.
After years of battling Lupus and with the coming transplant, our family needs help raising money in order to help my sister with her future expenses and to help her get back on her feet. Please consider partnering with us in this difficult situation. Make a donation today, and share this page with your family, friends, community, co-workers, and any other contacts. A dollar makes a difference.
Let’s help my sister not have to worry about anymore medical financial situation and help her at last be able to focus entirely on her career and becoming independent.
Thank you for your donations and support!
