OPERATION: “NEVER AGAIN” - AFGHANISTAN
Our Mission: To Support Rescue and Relief for the Vulnerable
Afghanistan is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis on an unprecedented scale. Right now, innocent civilians are being brutally massacred, journalists and activists are being tortured, civil society is under attack, female judges and police officers are being hunted down by the same terrorists they once brought to justice, and the persecuted Hazara community is at risk of genocide at the hands of the Taliban once more.
Defenders of human rights and democracy across the country are in hiding as we speak, running out of time and options: they need safe passage out of Afghanistan immediately. There is a small window of opportunity to help them that is quickly closing and if we don’t act soon, we may lose the chance to save them.
In collaboration with civil society working courageously on the ground, we have compiled a list of ~100 people in immediate danger, prioritizing those who are at the highest risk of being persecuted by the Taliban. This includes human rights defenders, journalists, female judges, lawyers, and police officers, individuals with a background in public service or civil rights movements, researchers and academics; with special consideration to those with a heightened/dual vulnerability due to persecution on the basis of their ethnic or religious identity.

Operation: “Never Again” - Afghanistan is a fundraising campaign and collaborative effort between leading organizations in the humanitarian field and trusted partners on-the-ground who have close ties to vulnerable people trapped in Afghanistan. Through this network, we have found a way to get at-risk individuals to immediate safety - but what we lack is financial support for this initiative.
In the past month, through our team on the ground, we have been able to help 73 at-risk individuals evacuate to safety from Afghanistan and have expended all our available funds to do so. This is a mission that we cannot accomplish alone – we urgently need your help to raise the funds necessary to help get them to safety. Please join our efforts to afford protection to those at the highest risk of suffering human rights abuses and atrocities under the Taliban regime.

How Your Support Will Help Save Lives
Funds raised will be used towards Crisis Response to facilitate safe passage out of Afghanistan for at-risk individuals (i.e. cost of travel including airfares, ground transport costs, travel documents, visa application fees, temporary accommodations in transit/final destination countries). This includes subsequent legal support to access resettlement opportunities in a safe third country. It will cost approximately $500,000 to rescue and assist 100 individuals at-risk. If we exceed our initial fundraising goal, we will expand our program and use additional funds for emergency relief and direct humanitarian assistance on the ground for internally displaced people.
Who We Are
The team behind Operation: “Never Again” Afghanistan is a diverse international group with the skills, networks, and professional expertise necessary to deliver results. Our working group includes an aeronautical engineer with military service in Afghanistan, civil society leaders, scholars, legal experts, human rights advocates, and survivors of the Taliban’s atrocities in the 1990’s.
This project is close to our hearts, and we are committed to ensuring that the world will Never Again stand idly by while the Taliban massacres innocent civilians - like during the massacre in Mazar-i-Sharif https://www.hrw.org/legacy/reports98/afghan/Afrepor0.htm , where the Taliban brutally targeted and executed thousands of Hazaras because of their ethnic and religious identity. We believe we all have a moral responsibility to protect those who are being persecuted for who they are, what they believe, and for their service to humanity.
