LUNA'S LAST 36 HOURS
Hi my name is Dave and I'm raising money which will be used to hopefully bring our beloved cat Luna's killer to justice. The reward will be presented in total to anyone who gives the information that gains a conviction of Luna's killer. Or if no conviction is gained the reward will be presented to the Cats Protection League.
Crime scene:
Between midday and 3pm on Friday 17th April 2026 on the roads Llwyn Estyn, Tyr Estyn and the cul-de-sac know as the Hammerhead all off Albert Drive, Deganwy.
Friday afternoon, 17th April 2026 was a lovely sunny spring day in Deganwy, Conwy, North Wales. I was in the back garden pottering about and Luna was exploring. I watched her leave the back garden early afternoon, to explore further in the direction of Llwyn Estyn Estate, she returned with haste about 15 minutes later and went back into the house. I thought nothing of it and continued my gardening. She would usually watch me through the window but this day she didn't, so I thought she had gone for a nap in our bedroom.
I finished my gardening and went back into the house, still early in the afternoon. I was met by Luna lying down against the wall by her scratching pole and she was crying. I tried to comfort her but she was obviously in pain, so I picked her up and she yelled and spat, not like Luna at all. I sat with her on my lap and stroked her head which calmed her, but if I touched her back or tummy she cried and growled and her back was constantly twitching. I put her down and she tried to walk, she moved so slowly in almost slow motion.
My thoughts were that she'd been hit, maybe by a car, so I phoned our vets and they asked me to bring her straight in. I phoned my wife Carole who was babysitting in Cambridge, she was so upset.
At the vets Luna was kept in for the rest of the afternoon so I went home and waited. A couple of hours later they phoned me. They had done an x-ray, the good news was she hadn't broken anything. The very bad and alarming news was she had been shot with an air rifle. Shot through the chest with the pellet lodged in her abdomen. The pellet had gone through her body from top to bottom, a crack shot. It was decided she would go to a 24 hour vets under sedation and overnight observation.
Saturday morning I was awoke by my phone, it was the the overnight vets. Luna had a comfortable night under heavy sedation but hadn't had food or drink. I told them that this wasn't a surprise as when she's in a cattery she normally doesn't eat for the first couple of days. This considered it was decided that I could bring Luna home but if she deteriorated take her back in.
I got Luna home and she was lovely. She walked properly, she did everything she normally did when brought back home after a trip out. Scratching the same chair to tell us off, then rubbing her neck on almost everything in her path. She still wouldn't eat, had a go at her locked cat flap and look cross, then she went for a nap. I felt happy, Luna looked on the mend.
About an hour later she came back from her nap, she was different. Walking slowly again, looking sad. She lay down in front of me and her back was twitching again. She growled when stroked. I phoned the 24 hour vet and took her back in.
A different veterinarian on duty said the pellet needed removing and any damage mending. I phoned my wife Carole and we agreed to the surgery. At this point Luna was in so much uncomfort and pain, it was very upsetting to see. I left her in their capable hands for the surgery that hours before I'd thought wasn't required.
It was 11.30pm on Saturday and no news, so I phoned the vets. Luna was just going into the theatre. They said she was lovely and had lots of loves beforehand. They would phone me with any news. It was only 15 minutes later that the phone rang. I won't ever forget those words "I'm so sorry it's not good news". The pellet had entered through one side of her chest, travelling diagonally through her body and lodging in her abdomen on the other side. The pellet had damaged multiple internal organs and was inoperable. It was decided with my blessing that we would let Luna go peacefully in her sleep whilst still under anaesthetic.
So that's the story of our lovely Luna's last 36 hours. She was a lovely talkative, caring, playful, harmless 6 year old black short hair cat who's life was cruelly ended by a sadist with an air gun in our own neighborhood. We are devastated.
Someone knows this person. This reward can be yours if you give the information that delivers a conviction. If no conviction is made the funds will be presenting to the Cats Protection League.
Thank you on behalf of myself, Carole and of course our beautiful Luna R.I.P.
