Our hearts broke into a thousand pieces the day we learned our one month old son, Bradley, has severe Hunter Syndrome, MPS II, the kind that hits hardest and fastest. He's just a tiny bundle of warmth and wonder, with eyes that light up like he's already plotting his next big adventure. We caught it early, thank God, but that "early" comes with a lifetime of fight: a bone marrow transplant to give his body a fighting chance, weekly enzyme infusions (Elaprase, pumped straight into his veins) that we'll chase for years, maybe forever. Every syringe, every hospital run, a reminder that his little frame is up against something fierce. We've held him through the first pokes, his cries echoing our own silent screams, wondering how a baby so new to the world could already carry this weight.
Bradley’s our third, our unexpected gift after two wild, wonderful older siblings who light up our home with chaos and love. But now, with him nestled in my arms full-time, I Melissa, his mom, can't step back to my work as an RVT, where I pour my days into healing animals that can't speak their pain. It's all hands on deck here: feedings that stretch into dawn, therapies that test our every nerve, and the gut wrenching unknowns of what tomorrow holds for his heart, his growth, his spark. My husband, Abraham, our rock; a military vet and EMS hero who's pulled strangers from the edge more times than he can count, is carrying us on his shoulders alone. His shifts keep the lights on, but the bills? They're a tidal wave: thousands for infusions alone, transplant prep that could top six figures, endless trips to UCSF Benioff for specialists like Dr. Harmatz and Dr. Mendelsohn. Groceries are rationed, birthdays feel like luxuries, and the fear of choosing between his meds and our kids' school lunches keeps us up at night, staring at the ceiling, hands clasped tight.
We're not asking out of pride, we've given our lives to service, saving others when we could. Now, we're begging for the village to lift us, so Bradley can chase those adventures we dream of: first words that bubble with mischief, steps that wobble toward us with open arms. Your help buys the infusions that ease his burden, the gas for hospital hauls, the meals that keep us steady, the buffer against the storms ahead. Early treatment like this? It stretches his story, into teens, twenties, a life where he knows he's loved beyond measure.
From the raw ache of our hearts to yours: thank you for seeing Bradley, for holding space in this storm. Donate if a dollar feels right; share if it's all you have. You're weaving hope into his blanket.

With shaky hope and endless love,

Melissa & Abraham
For Bradley, and the family fighting beside him

P.S. We'll update here. His tiny triumphs, the hard-fought days, photos of that smile we cling to. Every bit shared plants roots for his tomorrow.
