Imagine needing help with something and being able to call or text someone and that someone would be at your door, if not the same day, then the following morning. Imagine someone who would pick you up at the airport at 3:30 in the morning, smiling while doing so. Imagine someone who could do the plumbing, the electrical tasks, the watering of the garden, the ironing, the house-sitting, the dog-sitting (and even let the dog sleep with them), the bicycle repair, the oil-change on your car, the painting of shutters, the housekeeping, the gate repair, the wood-working, the trellis building, the research for the small part to repair the vacuum cleaner, the pool cleaning, the pump repair, the outdoor furniture stripping and painting and any other task that might come along. Meet Christian and Yveline who, as long as I have known them, met every challenge with a positive attitude. They arrive smiling and enthusiastic and waste no time getting down to work. I have known them many years and they have become part of my family.
Christian and Yveline have been married since they were teenagers. They raised two children, worked hard, tended their garden and paid the rent. Christian worked for Otis Elevator for 34 years. Now retired, the pension is stretched, hardly meeting their needs.
Like everyone else, they have been challenged by the pandemic. They managed to pay their rent for April. However, on May 1st, 2020, they paid their rent, but could only pay half and that was a struggle. They have paid their rent on time and in full to the same landlord for 13 years. Over the years, Christian has done automotive, electrical and plumbing work for his landlord free of charge. Something normal for Christian because, like his wife, he has a very big heart.
A heart that has health issues and has already undergone quadruple bypass surgery. Christian also suffers from leukemia and diabetes. You would never know it. He just keeps pressing on with enthusiasm. Yveline is by his side.
They were together when they received the note from the landlord informing them that they are evicted effective end of June 2020. Evicted because they could not pay the rent in full during the pandemic when everyone was confined to their homes and could not venture out to do an odd job.
I am asking you today to help Christian and Yveline. I am requesting first and last month’s rent plus security deposit and moving expenses just to give them a leg up. I asked their permission to set up this account and they accepted because they are in need. We agreed that if we exceeded our goal, we would help someone else to find housing with the additional funds.

Ils étaient ensemble lorsqu'ils ont reçu la note du propriétaire les informant qu'ils étaient expulsés à la fin de juin 2020. Expulsés parce qu'ils ne pouvaient pas payer le loyer en totalité pendant la pandémie alors que tout le monde était confiné et ne pouvait pas s'aventurer pour faire un petit boulot.
Je vous demande aujourd'hui d'aider Christian et Yveline. Je demande le loyer du premier et du dernier mois plus le dépôt de garantie et les frais de déménagement juste pour leur donner une longueur d'avance. Je leur ai demandé la permission d'ouvrir ce compte et ils ont accepté parce qu'ils en avaient besoin. Nous avons convenu que si nous dépassions notre objectif, nous aiderions quelqu'un d'autre à trouver un logement avec les fonds supplémentaires.
