Hi, my name is Amy, and my nephew, Spencer, fell over 30 feet while cutting down a tree on June 27th. The 300 lb. tree fell on Spencer's left side. He was airlifted to Valley Medical Trauma Center, where he remained in the ICU for eight days. For the first three days, he underwent 16 hours of surgery to repair his pelvis, femur and left arm. Spencer has six broken ribs, multiple fractured vertebrae, nine staples in his head and compound fractures on his left leg and left arm. We are very thankful there is no brain injury or c-spine injury.

Spencer and his fiance' Cynthia moved to Santa Cruz four weeks ago and had just begun their new jobs. Spencer grew up in Santa Cruz and was looking forward to starting their lives together back home. Needless to say, this was not in the plan.

Spencer has moved into our home for care until he can walk again. Cynthia is working full-time at her new job as a Vet Tech, but the medical bills are growing, and while Spencer is out of work, paying the bills will be difficult.
