Help us get to our new home!

Hello! Pawswithhope of Cuenca, Ecuador began over 6 years ago. In the past 6 years pawswithhope has rescued and re-homed over 60 dogs. We are the last 10 dogs and 1 cat here. Our founder has been a one woman team since she came to Ecuador. She has sacrificed a lot for us and given us 6 years of her life.

Unfortunately her time to leave Ecuador has come and we have no where to go. She is a single mom to two young toddler boys and does not have the emotional or financial support she needs here. She needs to do whats best for her children. Friends in Colombia have offered to help her. She wants to take us but she needs help. Each one of us need to be vaccinated this week (because we are due to travel in less than a month) and we will each need to get our health certificates a few days before the 28 hour ride over the border. Transportation needs to be paid which is not cheap at all. And the deposit needs to be made on the land being rented for us. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance. With love from the last 10 remaining paws at pawswithhope Max, Scott, Roo, Lobo, Peanut, Bailey, Scooter, Osa, Jiro, Nila, and of course our last cat Pilgrim.

Pawswithhope has been home to over 60 dogs and a good number of cats in the past 6 years, some of these dogs and cats have died here, others have found loving forever homes!

Meet the remaining paws:

Max- Jill took Max off the streets a few hours after she landed in Cuenca for the first time. Max is how pawswithhope bagan. He was malnourished and in very bad shape. Pawswithhope will be his forever home, as he was the first dog here. We think he may have been abused as he is very scared of most men. Although he loves Jill and her 2 young boys.

Scott- Scott was rescue number 6 at pawswithhope. He was found near mall del rio after being attacked by a german shepard. Jill took him to the vet to get stitches for his wounds and owners never came forward. He has also been here for about 6 years.

Peanut- Peanut was found with an infection. He had been in the neighborhood for a while, and Jill decided she could not take him as she had 13 dogs at the time. That all changed when a storm was approaching and Peanut ran into a gym to take cover, only to be hit with a mop by the owner, to then run into the restaurant next store to be hot my chair by the owner of the restaurant. Jill saw this and decided it was time to take Peanut in. Peanut has shown signs of fear aggressions which have improved over the years. Because of his aggressive behavior, pawswithhope has become his forever home.

Bailey- Bailey was rescue number 14. She was found as little puppy on a dirt road. She was surrounded by bigger adult dogs surrounding her and growling. Jill scooped her up and took her to vet. Bailey was given a 50% chance of survival by the vet. With love, care, and medicine, Bailey is still here 6 years later because she was never adopted. She became Pawswithhopes most active dog.

Scooter- Scooter was found "scooting" down the road in San Pedro. He had no use of his back legs. He lived at the vet for 3 months to undergo therapy. Scooter was later adopted and lived in a loving home for 2 years. He was returned when his adopter hit a rough spot in life. Scooter is considered disabled. He has use of his back legs now but cannot control his poops or tinkles.

Osa- Osa was found when Jill was at the end of her pregnancy with her first son. Osa killed a chicken and neighbors said they were going to kill Osa for it, so Jill took Osa in, to avoid Osa meeting her fate. Osa is a great companion but because she is not good with cats, it has been tough getting her a home.

Nila- Nila....She is a big personality in a smallish body. Nila came out of nowhere and jumped into the tax with Jill when she was taking another dog to the vet to get sterilized. We later found out Nila came from another rescue and escaped her adopters house. Nila as been at pawswithhope since. She has escaped pawswithhope as well on numerous ocsasions as she is a social butterfly and likes to socialize. She always came back and we found out she was going to the nearby gym to make friends with the people working out. She also ended up a bar one night in el centro. Luckily Nila has stopped her escaping escapades.

Lobo- Lobo is forever member of pawswithhope and he and Roo are best buds. He followed Jill home from the bakery and has become one of her best friends. She was malnourished and on the streets for a while.

Roo- Roo jumped in a taxi with Jill. No owners claimed him. He has become Lobos best friend and will spend his days living at pawswithhope.

Jiro- Jiro is a big boy who Jill saw on the streets on numerous occasions. One day she saw him posted on FB, the post said he was beat up by other dogs and was lying on the street. Jill went to pick him up, took him to the vet, and he has been here since.

Pilgrim- Pilgrim the cat was thrown over Jills fence when she was a little kitten. Jill looked for a home for her, but a week after Pilgrim came Jill gave birth to Noah. Noah and Pilgrim have been best buds since.

We have raised the cost of the securing the land, we are now raising the funds for the cost of transporting and vetting the rescues. $4,700.00
