Farley isn’t just a dog to us — he’s family, comfort, and unconditional love wrapped in fur. We adopted him in 2016, and from the moment he came home, he filled our lives with loyalty, goofy smiles, and a kind of happiness only a dog can give. He’s been there for us on our hardest days without ever asking for anything in return. Now, at 11 years old, Farley is facing something no pet should have to endure. He has developed a cancerous growth on his face that needs urgent medical attention. The veterinary team has told us he requires CT scans, major surgery, and likely chemotherapy to give him the best chance at recovery. As part of this treatment, Farley will be undergoing a mandibulectomy, which is the surgical removal of a portion of his lower jaw in order to remove the cancer. This is a life-changing operation, and while it is incredibly difficult for us to process, it is the best option to relieve his pain and give him more time with the people who love him. Watching him go through this is heartbreaking. He still wags his tail, still tries to play, and still looks at us with the same trusting eyes — and that’s what makes this so hard. He doesn’t understand what’s happening. He just knows we’re his people. The only place we are able to have these advanced procedures done is the Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, which also means travel, accommodations, and additional expenses on top of the medical bills. The total cost of diagnostics, surgery, treatment, and travel is far beyond what we can manage on our own. We never imagined we would be in a position where finances could affect his care, but here we are, asking for help for the dog who has given us years of unconditional love.
