Buster’s Emergency Care
Donation protected
As many of you know, Matt and myself decided to rescue a senior dog about 1.5 years ago. After 3 years together as a couple, Matt and I wanted to get a companion to build our little family. We knew we wanted to rescue an animal in need, and especially wanted to rescue a senior dog in need of their “fur-ever” home.
Call it fate or call it luck, one day I came across a Facebook posting for Buster from Home Free Animal Rescue, stating that Buster needed a home ASAP within the next 48hrs or he would have to be surrendered into a shelter.
This senior boy (8 years at the time) stole our hearts from the first time we met. And just 2 days later, in July of 2021, Buster became a part of our family when we rescued him from being surrendered.
Since then Buster has brought so much joy into our lives and the lives of those around us. We could not be more happy to have him thrive in our home filled with love. Buster is our everything, and has taught Matt and I so much more than we could have ever imagined. He is our “fur-child” and we appreciate every single minute spent with him.
Unfortunately, on Sunday 9/4/22, Buster became extremely ill. Out of nowhere he began to vomit profusely, was extremely lethargic, and very restless and whiny. We thought this would pass and that maybe he just had an upset stomach, but his illness and symptoms began to just get worse and worse.
After 2 days of pain, we took Buster to his normal vet where they diagnosed him with pancreatitis. We were hopeful that with the proper meds, Buster would be on the mend. Unfortunately, this was not the case and Buster continued to decline at home even with supportive round the clock care from his “fur-parents”.
On Saturday night, Matt and I made the decision to admit our boy into Emergency Inpatient Veterinary Care. We couldn’t watch our poor Buster suffer any longer. Buster went from a cuddly, loving, stuffed-animal hugging, food motivated boy to a miserable, lethargic, in pain dog that no longer wanted to eat or stay awake.
On Monday night we picked Buster up from his 2 day inpatient hospital stay, with high hopes that he would continue to thrive.
As of Tuesday, Buster is at home with us but is not recovering well. We are continuing to give him the best love and care we possibly can, and continue to have high hopes that he will turn the corner and be able celebrate his 10th Birthday (11/25/2022) alive and well!
To all of our family and friends, we thank you unconditionally for your love and support. We have created this Gofundme at the request of those around us who have wanted to help support the very high costs associated with Buster’s Vet Bills. Anything you can contribute greatly helps, and we cannot thank you enough for the compassion and support!
