Dear God,
We lift up the Mendoza family and all those who are facing illness today. We ask that You bring healing. Calm their fears and let them experience the healing power of Your love.
John and Christian Mendoza’s difficult journey that lies ahead:
On April 14th while being in isolation with his wife Carolyn due to testing positive for COVID, John Mendoza suffered a severe stroke which left him with little to no speech and which also affected the right side of his body. During his hospital stay, John has been treated for COVID to assist his breathing as well as treatment for his stroke. This week he was transferred to a rehabilitation centre where he will be getting speech and physical therapy.
Carolyn and John's son, Christian Mendoza, who has autism, is 12 years old and the youngest of their three children. On April 26th Carolyn noticed lumps on Christian’s neck and made an appointment with the doctor. After getting his results, he was referred to Sick Kids hospital. On May 20th after a week of further tests consisting of biopsies, CT scan, lumbar puncture, and more bloodwork, Christian was diagnosed with lymphoma and has begun chemotherapy. For any child this would be already too much to deal with but for Christian who has autism and is non-verbal, he has that to cope with as well.
Unfortunately, what Christian has been through is just the beginning of a lengthy and difficult journey ahead.
With very little family here in Canada, Carolyn doesn’t have too many people to rely on for help and is torn between her husband and son who both need her and are both in different facilities. Sadly, Carolyn is unable to be home as much as she’d like with her other two children who need their mother as well. John is the sole provider as well the sole driver in the household. She has to rely on transit or taxi for transportation with funds being limited. Carolyn who is trying to be strong for her family is emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted.
This family is very kind and humble and all Carolyn repeatedly asks for is prayers, but we can do that and much more to help this family. We need your donations so Carolyn can focus on her husband and son’s treatments and recovery without the burden of bills and expenses piling up. Your donations will also help with any future assistance or equipment that John or Christian may need for recovery at home.
Please help the Mendoza family during this time. Any donations are greatly appreciated. We thank you for your support and ask that you keep this family in your prayers. God Bless!
