I am asking for help for my father Daniel Torres. My father has been dealing with kidney failure since September 2016 when an antibiotic called Bactrim shut his kidneys down and they never recovered, he is now currently in the end stage. Recently he has come down with a really rare disease called Calciphylaxis. It is a complication that usually occurs in patients in the end stage of kidney failure. What it does is it pulls the calcium from your bones and sends it to your arteries, hardening them. It has caused many obstacles for my Dad and my family. He had to lose both of his legs do to the disease and are trying to save his fingers. We are trying to do everything we can but we do need financial help. The biggest obstacle right now is transportation . We cannot get him into any of our available cars and it would mean the world to my Dad and my family for him to be able to have a way to get him to his doctor appointments because his insurance doesn’t cover any tranport services. My father has never been the kind of person to ask for help from other people, he was always the first to offer, but we would really appreciate it very much. We are in need of a wheelchair van and home renovations to make it accessible for him at home. The medication needed to fight this disease is covered but with a copay plus a copay for a nurse to come administer it intravenously. We are just getting by having this happen right after covid where we spent our savings staying above water with the thought that it would be made up afterwards. My Mom can't work anymore because she needs to take care of my Dad. Every resource out there that we find to help won't help because we aren't below poverty yet.
