Camryn’s Fight Against Leukemia

Hello, my name is Anjelique and I’m Camryn’s sister. I am raising money for Camryn and my family.

Camryn’s story:

Last week Camryn was not feeling well for about 5 days. She was experiencing headaches, stomach pain, vomiting for 3 times day, sweating with no fevers, and generally just not feeling well. My mother thought she just had a stomach bug. Around 4am on Sunday, August 13, 2023 Camryn started vomiting and just not acting herself. So my mother took her to Children’s Hospital emergency room. She was thought to be dehydrated with a stomach virus all up until her blood sugar was 30. They did bloodwork, urine and started IV fluids. Camryn was up and talking even with a blood sugar that low. All this was not adding up. Then all her other bloodwork started coming back abnormal after abnormal after abnormal. The head Fellow came in to talk to my mother. She told my mother that Camryn’s bloodwork is really concerning especially her white blood count was extremely high at 486,000. My mother knew exactly the next words that were going to follow that number. We were told my sister Camryn had cancer. With an additional test on August 14, 2023 we were told Camryn has Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Camryn has started chemotherapy on Aug 15, 2023 as this is an acute type of leukemia and needed treatment fast. Camryn will have to stay in the hospital for this next month and will be only allowed to go home if her blood counts are up to a safe place where she can fight off infection due to chemotherapy depleting good and bad blood cells. Camryn will have 2 years of chemotherapy. This will be at outpatient clinic visits, at home chemotherapy where a nurse comes into our home, oral chemotherapy and spinal chemotherapy and hopefully not but could be in patient. She will have one hell of a fight to fight. Our family is going to go through a lot mentally, emotionally, and financially. This is going to be hard most and foremost on our family’s dynamic with my parents needing to be in two places at once with taking care of Camryn and being with my 3.5 yr old brother. My parents are not going to work a lot if any at all to be able to fight this with their daughter. They will need to be there for hospital visits, treatments, inpatient stays. Camryn is going to need everyone’s love and support through this fight l. All the prayers you have for our family means the world to us.
