Study Abroad in Ghana

Hello friends, family, and strangers!
My name is Brianna Berry. I am a Sam Houston State University Alumna and am currently pursuing my masters in school counseling from Clark Atlanta University. I have recently been granted with the opportunity to do a service learning project in Ghana, Africa. Civic engagement is something I have always been passionate about. During my four years at SHSU, I volunteered at the SAAFE House, Mance Park Middle School, Boys and Girls Club, Hospitality House, was a mentor for 3 years, and assisted in the community wherever I could. Since becoming an Atlanta resident in August, I have become a member of Cool Girls (a mentor organization), volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and attended other volunteer events around Atlanta. I also have experience working with children in CPS, victims of sex trafficking, and am currently working as a Community Relations Specialist at a nonprofit organization.
As you can see, my life revolves around giving to others. I grew up in a low income single-parent household, with a father who was an addict and is now deceased, and am a woman of color. By the grace of God, I had people who became part of my village that really invested in me. I plan to use that privilege and help others! Even if it is one kid at a time!
I AM EXTREMELY BLESSED AND ELATED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY ABROAD! Unfortunately because I am currently in graduate school, have to pay my own bills, and spend most of my free time with homework or volunteering... coming up with funds for this opportunity has been a struggle. I currently have money saved up, but the study abroad opportunity costs near $4,000! I'm asking my village and those who will become a part of it for a little assistance. Times are hard, so literally $1, $5, or a prayer helps. Just know that you are a blessing and I am genuinely and sincerely THANKFUL for you!!
