Kari is my daughter and in 2013, at the age of 18, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She successfully fought hard and won the first battle with her doctor, nurses and many prayers. She had to deal with some emotional, mental and physical repercussions, but finally was getting a firm hold on what career she wanted. She started at UEI for auto tech just this January 2020 and was in love with it! Everything was looking up for her. She dealt with an ear infection at the beginning of the year that took a little while to clear up and then she was hit with a head and chest cold that turned into pneumonia. She finally went to the doctor when the fevers started and bloodwork was done. That is when the doctor discovered her leukemia had returned. She is now in Sutter General receiving treatment and will eventually undergo another stem cell transplant. Her spirit is mostly upbeat, but to be hit with this again at a time when she was ready to become independent, is devastating. We have no idea when she will be able to work again at her job or return to school. Her medical costs will be substantial even with insurance. We are not the type to ask for help, we much prefer to give, but Kari will need some financial help to pay for everyday costs (car ins., prescriptions, gas) until she can work again. Her Father and I are doing what we can to help also. Thank you so much for helping, even if it is just sharing this or saying a prayer for her recovery, which will always be what we desire the most.
