Hi, my name is Raheem Heaven and I'm fundraising from Toronto on behalf of my family in Jamaica. As many of you know, I was born and raised there, and all my family still lives there.

The category 5 hurricane that hit this past week was the largest recorded hurricane to make landfall in the region, with the eye first passing New Hope, Westmoreland.

My family in Friendship, Westmoreland were in the direct path and have been severely affected. The house that my grandparents raised my dad and all my uncles and aunts, and the house I go to every holiday has had its roof blown off and the interior has been flooded. All the memories in there have been destroyed.

My cousins' houses just up the hill have been completely demolished as if they were never there. My 3 cousins and their 5 children lived between the two houses and now everything they owned is gone. The entire property is completely unrecognisable. All the trees are razed and there is debris everywhere.

This hurricane has been devastating for me and my family, and as we come together and try to recover from this, we're asking for help in the rebuilding process. The money raised will go towards rebuilding my cousins' houses, with a prefab unit being potential affordable option. It will also go towards food, clothing, and other resources to support my family. I'll be wiring every dollar from this campaign directly to my family in Jamaica and will also be going there in December to support them.
