We’re rallying support for a courageous, single mother, Ryan Bell.

After a recent health emergency, involving a hospital stay and surgery, Ryan is now at home recovering. As a devoted Mom, her priority has always been for her child but her health issues have forced Ryan to take a lengthy absence from her work.

This fundraiser aims to provide financial relief, during Ryan’s recovery, ensuring that she can focus on healing without the added stress of monumental medical expenses (with no health insurance), as well as daily living expenses.

Personal Words from Ryan:

I am a 39-year-old single mother, raising a beautiful and amazing child.

A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with Chrohns Disease, which affects your autoimmune system. After some time, the treatment became too expensive, as did the cost of health insurance itself. Although I am not proud of myself, I made the difficult decision to stop taking the incredibly expensive medication, Stelara, in order to be able to keep up with the bills of everyday life.

I was not aware of the extent of complications that could arrive if the disease was left untreated. Recently, after two weeks of trying to “will” the pain away, I broke down and went to the hospital. My pain was absolutely unmanageable.

I entered the emergency room severely dehydrated and was ultimately admitted to the hospital. Complications from the disease resulted in a case of E. Coli associated with it and a severe UTI. I spent a week in the hospital being rehydrated and treated with steroids and antibiotics. Ultimately, I had to have surgery due to other complications associated with the disease.

I am now out of the hospital and at home recovering. I have realized that my physical capacities are more limited than I had hoped. I am taking one day at a time, and focusing on tasks involved with recovery and building my strength to return to work.

In closing, I know that I am blessed in many ways. I am supported by family and friends who mean so very much to me. Their love, and support, cannot be measured – there is no way for me to thank them enough.
