Maddie is 13 months old, and within the past several weeks, was diagnosed with an ependymoma, a type of brain tumor. 

She initially went to a local emergency room with vomiting and signs of dehydration, but a CT scan performed the next day showed that she had blood in her brain.  On 7/11, she was flown to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and had surgery to place an external ventricular drain to relieve the pressure in her head. Following this procedure, a MRI was done to find the source of the bleeding. At this time, they found a tumor near her brainstem. 

On Friday, 7/14 - Maddie underwent brain surgery to remove what they could. Unfortunately, due to the tumor location, which is right next to her brain stem, they had to leave some tumor untouched. 

The family is currently in the process of getting Maddie's records sent to St Jude Children's Research Hospital to decide next steps and lay out potential treatment plans. 

Maddie has a long road ahead, and fundraising is being done to ease the financial burden on her family with upcoming travel for doctor's visits, hospital stays, and other associated costs.
