Hi friends!
As many of you know, I have a new furry addition to the family. For those not keeping tabs, meet Suki - a sweet street cat I met a couple of weeks ago who had been living in the courtyard of my workplace.
I spent days sitting outside with her, trying to win her trust with Churus and whispered promises of a better life, doing my best to get her to "choose me, pick me, love me." After many rejections and a few failed attempts to catch her, Suki finally let me bring her home.
I took her to the vet expecting to handle the usual - vaccines and maybe a round of antibiotics, but instead we were hit with a much tougher diagnosis. Suki has stage 4 periodontal disease which is not only irreversible but extremely painful, ultimately impacting her daily life. The vet recommended full teeth extractions as the best course of action to relieve her pain and give her a fresh start.
I got a second opinion from a veterinary dental specialist who confirmed the diagnosis: Suki’s mouth is in bad shape, and without surgery, her quality of life will continue to suffer.
I genuinely was not planning on adopting a second cat - my other cat, Kaleiope, has been with me for over 10 years - but I felt this intense pull to bring Suki home with me. In reality, Suki found me. It's true what they say about the pet finding you! Since moving in, she has already adapted to indoor life. She loves belly rubs, chasing toys, watching the world from the window, reminiscing on her days of once being a street cat, and having a sister. (Her and Kaleiope are warming up to each other - slowly but surely!)
This surgery is expensive, and while I'm doing what I can, I could really use some help. Any amount you can donate would go directly toward:
- Surgery (Teeth Extractions)
- Bloodwork
- X-Rays
- Anesthesia
- Medications
Most importantly, your support will give Suki a pain-free life.
Thank you so much for reading and for any support - whether it's a donation or simply sharing this page. Suki, Kaleiope, and I are SO grateful!
