Help a Veteran's Disabled Widow keep her home.

Hello, my name is Steven Lazar, and the woman in the photo is my mother: Emelia Lazar.

Back in 2008, my mother lost her ability to drive and work because of her advanced glaucoma, rendering her legally blind (10% vision remaining), and since then I have been taking care of her as a personal caregiver, unable to get normal work due to needing to be there when she needed things done around the house.

Roughly two years after she was declared legally blind, my father began exhibiting symptoms of dementia with forgetting things (simple things at first like driving routes to more advanced things like my mother being his wife) and was officially declared to have Alzhiemers in 2019, though they estimate it began back in the 90's. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was exposed to Agent Orange, which caused his diabetes, cancer, and Alzhiemers.

For the last few years, I've been taking care of both of them, further preventing me from getting a normal job. Over the years, we've had to refinance the house several times to try and eliminate piling debt in taking care of both him and her, but something new always managed to cost us money, putting us further and further in debt.

At the end of June, we lost my father and her husband of 43 years to his battle with Alzhiemers and cancer.

Previously, while he was alive, we were able to pay monthly bills, debt, and mortgage payments out of his VA benefits and social security. With his death, his benefits ceased almost immediately, leaving us with nothing to pay the monthly bills and mortgage.

Presently, from what we've been told by the Veteran's Affairs Office, it will take several months before my mother sees any survivor benefits as well as claim on his life insurance, leaving us with nowhere near enough to pay for the monthly bills, debt, monthly medication, and mortgage payments.

If things continue as they are, we will lose our home of 30 years. We are in desperate need of assistance to be able to pay the bills.

I've set the goal at 50,000 dollars, as it's a rough estimate on the current debt hanging over our heads, but any donations made will be used to slowly pay them off as well as our monthly bills and mortgage payments while I try and find a job. Any and all help is appreciated.

In the event we end up having to sell our home, the donations will help in the transition to a new place of residence, but it's something we are trying desperately to avoid as we would lose a lot in the move.
