Hello- My name is Tim. My wife and I were extremely saddened to hear about Lisa Davis, and we hope you will help us raise funds for the family while they go through this tragic time. These funds will be directly deposited to the Davis family thru gofundme.
James and I met through the Sun Coast Fly Fishing Club. James was the most welcoming and inspiring man for me. James and I fish as much as we can together, and our friendship helped me to want to share this story with you and all other people in our community.
James wrote this about what happened to his wife and what is happening in their life:
My lovely wife Lisa of 19 years, had a massive stroke in late June 2022 at the early age of 57. The stroke has left her with the right side of her body paralyzed, and she is not able to speak or swallow. My daughter and I are devastated. We are very sad, and very upset.
Lisa has a feeding tube in her stomach to receive liquid nutrients and crushed pills for her meds. At one point, she aspirated from being fed with her new ported stomach tube as she was lying flat. She stayed in the hospital ICU for 6-days on a respirator to assist her breathing. While in ICU, she also received a tracheostomy (breathing tube) because of the long ICU stay. She has since been stable enough to leave the hospital ICU and has been transferred to a long-term care acute ICU facility in Dunedin where she now begins therapy.
The goal is for Lisa to be able to come home and be somewhat independent, even if she is not able to speak.
Nurses and therapists are trying to establish yes/no communication with her, but so far have had little success.
We are staying positive and fight each day to have Lisa come home.
Two days after Lisa was submitted to the hospital, our home air conditioner decided to stop working. The 22-year-old A/C needs to be replaced. I am trying to gather the monies to pay for a new air conditioner while keeping bills paid and trying to keep food on the table.
Also, our daughter Karli is about to enter her last semester in college. She is set to graduate in December from USF. However, due to the struggle of paying for the air conditioner, bills, and food we are also struggling to pay for her final semester in college.
Reaching our goal would allow me to fix the air conditioner, pay bills, afford groceries, and allow Karli to graduate school.
Thank you for reading, and a very big thank you to those who share and donate.
