Do you want to join me in providing positive opportunities and experiences to enhance the wellbeing and outlook of disadvantaged children?

If you are not already aware of KidsOut’s work, the charity supports some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Most will have fled domestic abuse, including emotional, violent, and sexual abuse and live in safe houses and refuges. They currently support in excess of 13000 children in refuge in London.

When children and their mothers flee abuse, they usually arrive in refuge traumatised with no belongings. KidsOut makes sure every child receives a box of new toys on arrival, plus they take them and their mothers out on fun trips. Their aim, to provide them with new, happy memories, and importantly to feel valued and cared for.

As Chair of the London Youth Assembly I am working with KidsOut to raise funds to take children, with their mums, who have fled abuse, for a fun day out next year. The children face months, sometimes years living in one room. Giving these children something to look forward to is so important for their wellbeing.
