Dear family, friends, and friends of friends and anyone who has a heart.
On Tuesday December 1st Daemon (our 7 year old son/Alaskan Malamute) was taken to our local vet for a large lump on his right front leg that appeared over night. We assumed that he had sprained his leg from playing with our baby daughter Dakota (11 month old Alaskan Malamute) After x-rays it was discovered that he has bone cancer. This was a total shock to us. On December 8th he met with an Oncologist at UC Davis Animal Medical Group. He had several tests performed and it was determined that he does in fact have bone cancer but luckily it has not spread anywhere else yet. His chest x-rays came back clear which is a great sign. The Oncologist feels that if surgery is performed very soon to amputate his right front leg and he received several rounds of chemotherapy that there is a high chance of survival. The Dr. feels very confident that with this treatment he will live a healthy life for a long time, but as we all know with cancer he can't say with a 100% certainly. The cost for this treatment is several thousand dollars and even with both of us working every day and double shifts we will not have even close to enough to pay for the treatment. We have placed our pride aside and are asking all of our family, friends and friends of friends to please help with a donation to save Daemon.
With out this treatment he will be in much pain and will die within a short amount of time.
If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Daemon or had your picture made with him then you understand how wonderful and beautiful of a majestic being he is. He is full of love and happiness all of the time and even now when he is so sick he still remains happy and with a smile on his face.
To a lot of people they would just say he's just a dog but to us and anyone that has ever met him you understand he is way more than just a dog. We have made a pledge and a promise to Daemon to do everything that we can to save him. Currently he is on several medications to reduce the inflammation and a pain medication to make him more comfortable. The Dr. has recommended that he get the surgery as soon as possible with in the next two weeks to avoid the possible spread of the cancer to any other areas of his body.
We are asking for help and we need it quickly. If you can help us save our baby boy's life with whatever help you can give we would be for ever in your gratitude. If you don't feel comfortable with using go fund me and want to help please contact us and we will make any arrangements that are necessary. If all you can donate is the change that is in your car we will take that we will take whatever help we can get. We refuse to give up on him and love him with all our hearts. Tonight our friend Jim Jordan preformed a song called "My Buddy" and I broke down into tears of the thought of losing Daemon I know one day he will cross the rainbow bridge but that day is not today.
