Hello.

I’m a 58 year old disabled woman of limited, fixed, income who can no longer maintain her home or pay her bills.

I have no family.   I fall through the cracks of most social programs.

Two years ago I was happily married to the love of my life, my soulmate. We never had much money, but we were happy.   My husband worked two jobs. I collected social security disability. With our combined incomes, we got by.

Less than two years ago my husband suddenly died.  He had a stroke, and during his examination they found cancer.  That cancer had spread through all his vital organs.   He lived, after his stroke, for less than a month.

...and I found myself alone, in debt and deep, deep despair.

Mike, my husband, had no life insurance. Neither of us had any savings.

...and the serious struggles began.

Many of Mike’s former co workers/friends helped me pay for his final expenses, and allowed me to move to a mobile home park in another city. The trailer I obtained was a “fixer upper”, and I hoped to do just that.

...but the work was beyond me.

I put what money I earned into my home, but problems mounted, and mounted, and further mounted.

My bank gave me a type of loan in that they’d allow me to over draft and pay them back.  They'd take the payment from my social security check which would be deposited into the account. I had to rely on that arrangement to get by...but now I owe the bank over five hundred dollars.

...and my electric payment didn’t go through.

...and my social security check is only for a bit over eight hundred dollars per month.

My house has rats, termites, rotting flooring, and plumbing issues. I currently have no hot water.

...but I have no other place to go, or anyone to go to. At the age of 58 I slip through the cracks of most programs. Many set up for families, women with children or those over sixty.

I hope to get food stamps re established soon, but still need help to pay off the debt I’m in.

...and do some repairs to this home.

I have been selling my possessions to supplement my social security check. These sales have helped me feed myself and my two small rescue dogs and cat.

...but bills continue to mount.

I am overwhelmed and see no other help in sight.

Please, if you can, help me. Your help will allow me to catch up on my bills and make the basic repairs to continue living here.
