Graduate School Funding

My name is Demetrius Blake Keller, a graduating senior, Social Work Major at Bowie State University. I was born and raised in Prince Georges County Maryland. Throughout my college career, I have maintained a minimum of two jobs, in order to pay for tuition, bills and family responsibilities. This has fueled my commitment to help others in similar or worst situations than me. Thus, I have been very humble, demonstrating, a strong passion to help people in need and to liberate the minds of the oppressed. It is fulfilling to see the positive effects of change and to shift the paradigm. Hence, I am selfless in action and intentions. In addition, dynamic relationships have founded great influences in my life. I am the product of a family of six, a Mother, Father, two older brothers, and two older sisters. My family has been a great influence on how I have matured and aspired me to create a legacy for them and myself. This legacy entails being the first to attend a University and get accepted into the top graduate school programs, at the University of Chicago and the University of Georgia. My family is very supportive, but we are limited with resources, with the knowledge of that I have always sought independence and desire to help the household to best of my abilities. Spirituality in my family, Church and Bowie State University has created a unique perception on my life, for example, seeing the strengths in everyone and seeking unity among us. I will use what I have been taught to bring about effective change in the communities. Some ways to bring about change is to connect with people on all levels, that is why I have joined multiple organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Black Male Agenda, Social Work Club, Phi Alpha Honor Society and many more. I have gained a plethora of honors in multiple life including Deans List, Distinguished Leadership Award and many more. However, with all my accolades I humbly need your help, as a twenty-three-year-old, African American Male Social Worker, destined to attend the University of Georgia to complete my Master of Social Work, in the Advanced Standing Program. You can help me by donating anything possible. I need to collect no less than $5,000 before May 17th. This will be catered towards my Housing, Student Fees and pocket money for a year.
