“You have a mass in your brain.” No one expects these words to turn a lazy Sunday afternoon into a night that changes your life, but that’s the reality Hannah experienced when she went to the ER for a migraine. This trip for a headache turned into a hospital stay, major brain surgery 5 days later, and a cancer diagnosis.
Hannah: 24, YoungLife Capernaum leader, halfway through her first clinical rotation, and with 1 year left in her graduate program at Belmont University to become an occupational therapist…eagerly planning for the future. Daughter. Friend. These are just a few descriptors of Hannah and where she’s at in her life right now. Unfortunately, diagnosed with a grade IV astrocytoma (here’s some quick information on it: https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/astrocytoma/ Hannah does have the IDH1 mutation, which is a positive for her prognosis) and undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment is now added to that list, but are in no way her defining features. However, her treatment, surgery, and hospital stay are a financial burden to herself and her family (especially for a graduate student with current student loans who now has health concerns to add to her list). This GoFundMe is set up as an avenue to support Hannah and her family with medical expenses from this unexpected journey. We understand it is a difficult time for many, but any support for Hannah is greatly appreciated. Overall, we are thankful that the mass was found and that Hannah is able to receive the treatment she needs. If you would like to follow along with Hannah on her journey, you can find updates here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/565864475268596.
Thank you for your time, thoughts, prayers, and support!
