Catastrophe in the kop

Saturday 10th August.
Leeds Utd V Nottingham Forest, 1st home game of the season.

For 59 long and tortuous minutes, the ground was charged with energy and hope for the season ahead.

Supporters remained on their feet, chanting in unison to show their support for the lads in white, who dominated the game and teased the 35,000 fans, constantly striking just around the post or rebounding off the crossbar with 15 attempts before Pablo Hernandez  slotted the ball in the back of the net. Elland Road erupted in celebration.

Unfortunately as the crowd rushed to join the players pitch side it was a bittersweet moment for Ronnie in N6 who was swept away in the celebration. Sadly he fell to the ground fracturing his hip in 2 places, his screams of pain bellowed beyond the cheers of joy for the first goal.

Ronnie now faces a long recovery,  is unable to work and is only financially supported by his son. We accept this was a horrendous accident where Ronnie was the wrong man, in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one is wanting to point the finger or blame anyone.

Ronnie has already undergone surgery to have 2 pins to hold his broken bones and is about to start physio. At 65 years old recovery can take up to 4 months and up to 12 months for a full recovery.

We are really hoping the Leeds family will come together to help raise money for Ronnie to reduce the financial stress of this terrible accident and allow him the time to get better.

Just to reiterate we are not blaming the club, we understand this was an unfortunate accident and want to help a fellow Leeds fan out.
