We are asking for help in raising money to pay for the medical transportation of Denise to Wisconsin. Her insurance will pay for her care but not the transportation cost. Denise was hit by a hit and run driver while walking from work. They have been unable to find the driver that hit her. She is currently in Detroit. Our family wishes to move her to Milwaukee to be closer to family and give her the care she needs. She is recovering from a severe Traumatic Brain Injury and will need extensive treatments and rehab.

A little on Denise's story. Denise has for PhD in Microbiology. She has done extensive work with Influenza and cancer research. She was a research Professor at the University of Rochester. 10 years ago while taking a cross country bicycle trip she was hit by a truck. this also caused a severe TBI with multiple other injuries. Her tenacity and drive showed through with this injury. She went through long hospitalizations and extensive rehab working to improve. She fought hard and did work on the side daily. She surpassed expectations of recovery and amazed us all.

She is now at the same spot almost 10 years to the date. We are trying hard to get her the best care. Milwaukee was a great experience for her mentally and physically last time she was recovering. We want her to have that chance again. Being the 2nd TBI will be more of struggle, but you will not find someone that will fight harder than Denise.
