Mom's Esophagus Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Valeria Valenzuela and I am raising money for my mom's esophagus surgery. Over the years my mom has always suffered from reflux and heartburn but we never went to the doctor to check it out. A while ago, my mom started to spit up blood and we knew we could not let that go without trying to find what was causing it. With the current history of cancer in our family, we decided to go to the doctor to see what could be causing that issue and after many tests and medication, the doctor has found that my mom has a chronic disease called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or GERD. This occurs when stomach acid or bile flows into the food pipe and irritates the lining. My mom has no medical insurance and I am currently a student at UCR without work because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Her recommended treatment right now is medication and in about 3 to 4 months she needs to have surgery if we do not want her condition to worsen. This money will help pay for doctor consults, medication, surgery, and recovery. All donations are going towards making her better so that we can have her for many more years to come.
If her disease is not treated and fixed with surgery it will turn into Barrett’s esophagus which is usually the result of repeated exposure to stomach acid and it is most often diagnosed in people with long-term gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. With cancer history in our family, if she gets to the point of Barrett's esophagus there is 99.9% that it will turn into cancer.
I thank each of you beforehand for the support and if donations are not a possibility please help us by sharing this with your friends and family and even prayers can help us.
