Sammy’s Recovery

Hi, my name is Cassie and I am Lori’s sister.

Everyone knows how much our family loves animals, especially dogs!

In November, Lori adopted this cute six year old Husky, who she named Sammy. He has been the best pup!

On Tuesday, Lori rushed him to the vet because she noticed his breathing was off. The vet suggested they keep him for a few days due to a low red blood cell count. They gave him some fluids and monitored him the next couple days. The vet then says that he will need to be seen by a specialist and suspected he had IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a disease where his immune system is attacking his own red blood cells. The vet said he might need a blood transfusion.

After a few days and blood transfusions later, Lori is anxious to bring Sammy home to further monitor him in the comfort of his own home.

While we don’t know what the recovery will look like as of now, updates will be given the more we know information from the specialist.
