Hi everyone,
This is a difficult post to write, but I’m reaching out because I really need help for a cat who means the world to me.
Last year, I took in a stray cat I had been feeding on the street. He was badly wounded, with a head injury, and I couldn’t bear to leave him out there suffering. I scooped him up and brought him to the vet, despite being broke at the time. That’s when I found out he had FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) — the cat version of AIDS.
I tried to rehome him. I knew I didn’t have the money to properly care for a cat with health complications. But unsurprisingly, no one wanted to adopt a cat with FIV. And honestly… he got stuck with me. And I got attached. Billy is one of the sweetest, most affectionate cats I’ve ever known. He's full of love and changed my life for the better.
Now, his health is declining. His teeth were already in poor condition when I found him, and they’ve deteriorated a lot. He needs urgent dental surgery, including at least one canine extraction, and possibly more work once they go in. The vet gave me an estimate of $1500, not including bloodwork to check his kidneys and liver — which we also need to do soon, as he’s been drinking a lot more lately and vomiting on occasion.
I’m currently sick myself. I’m in the middle of waiting for my own medical appointments and tests, and had to take a medical leave from work. My income is severely reduced, and most months, I’m barely scraping by.
I’ve tried everything I can think of — calling other vets, asking about payment plans (none offered), trying to save every bit I can. I’m committed to covering his upcoming blood tests and ongoing needs out of pocket. But for this surgery alone, I’m asking for help.
If you’re able to contribute anything — even just $5 — it will go directly toward Billy’s dental surgery and pain relief. If you can’t donate, sharing this with others would mean the world.
Billy’s been through so much, and he’s fought hard to survive. I just want to give him the comfort and care he deserves now.
Thank you so much for reading, for caring, and for helping us get through this.
With love and gratitude,
Coralie & Billy
