Update as of 9/25: As of last yesterday, Eric is home and starting his long road to recovery. The unknown of when Eric will be able to return back to work is looking to be somewhere between 3-6 months. Eric and Mandi are so thankful for the outpouring love & support that they are receiving from everyone. Thank you all for your kind words, love, support, donations & time out to share this. On Saturday night (9/19) Eric was riding home on his motorcycle on 183 in Bedford when he was hit by a truck and thrown off his bike. He landed 15 feet away from his motor cycle while the driver continued to drive off. Thankfully two people witnessed this happen and stopped to render aid to him and get help.
Eric was admitted into ICU with bleeding on the brain, broken clavicle, broken ribs, fracture to left eye orbital, fractured skull, bruised lungs. He has since been moved to general admission and possibly being released within the next couple of days. However, this will be a long road to recovery for Him and his wife and kids. This year has been a crazy year and we know times are hard right now. But due to this unfortunate and terrible accident, times are going to be rough for the Smith family with Eric not being able to work while recovering. Eric does not have health insurance and bills are racking up and adding to Mandi’s plate as she is having to work full time while caring for her two year old son and newborn baby boy and now caring for her husband.
