To my family and friends, I was diagnosed with leukemia 8 years ago and have been through multiple treatments over the years. I am at a point where additional treatment is needed. I will have a procedure called CAR-T cell therapy along with chemo, and finishing off with a bone marrow transplant. The average cost of the CAR-T therapy can range from $800k to $1 million. And one of the restrictions is to remain less than 45 min from the hospital in case of emergencies of possible side effects for 3 weeks during the procedures. We unfortunately we live more than hour and are having to get an Airbnb that is close to unc chapel Hill. This is an unexpected and added expense.
