We found out in 2024 I was pregnant with a baby girl and our lives were about to change forever, we were so excited and our son was ready to become the best big brother.

At 31 weeks pregnant, I went in for reduced movements and had an emergency scan, they told me baby girls head was measuring on the small side. After weeks of testing Including a Fetal MRI and amniocentesis testing all her tests were clear and was told we would be induced at 37 weeks, which would have been the 8th March due to baby girl measuring small.

On the 7th March the three of us were ready to spend our last evening together as a 3, when I started to feel this awful pain going from my back to my belly. The pain didn’t go and was getting more intense, I started to feel faint and was uncontrollably sweating.

We made our way into triage, as this point not sure if I was labouring or not. They tried to put me straight onto a CTG monitor and couldn’t find baby girl’s heart rate and then I started to bleed. Within the next 20 minutes I was having an emergency c-section and our baby girl Ocean was born sleeping.

The doctors tried everything they could to try and save our little girl.

For the next few days (the hardest days of our lives) we were supported amazingly by the team at East Surrey Hospital and was told I had a placental abruption. This is where the placenta comes away from your uterus leaving baby with no blood flow or oxygen.

We spent a precious 2 days with our Ocean.

We would love to give our baby girl the best celebration we can and let her big brother plan her a special party and would also love to provide some Cold Cots to our local hospital in memory of Ocean. These cots are amazing and are made so babies that are born sleeping can have some cuddles with their loved ones.

Thank you so much for everyone’s kind words and support, we are very much comforted knowing me have the most amazing family and friends. We are taking one day at a time at the moment but want to change the outcome for other parents in similar situations in Oceans name.
