We get by with a little help from our friends

Hello, my friend Shane Patterson, is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. I think anyone who knows him would agree. My friend works hard and is a valuable member of our team, in this company we work for. Unfortunately, as life often does to us all, he has experienced some major life changes recently, that I am not going to go into because it's not my place. What I will tell you is that this man, who is a hard-working and genuinely good human being, has fallen on hard times due to the changes in his life.
I believe we all need a hand up, now and again. I do not believe Shane is a charity case, nor do I believe he is incapable of taking care of himself. Honestly, I simply see my friend struggling and I want to help him. However, I am not a rich man, so I cannot do it alone. One of the issues my friend if dealing with is over what I consider to be a basic need for all of us. His clothes dryer has quit working on him and it turns out the washer is acting up as well. The set he owns was bought by his parents about 25 years or more ago, so repairing them would just be a temporary fix, in my opinion. So what I would like to do is rally amongst those of us who care for our friend, Shane, and put together enough money that he can get a new washer and dryer and thus alleviate some of the stress that he is under and grant the man the comfort of being able to know he will have a way to wash his clothes.
Shane doesn't know I am doing this and I'd rather not make it a public display. If you wish to share this, please be discrete. Ideally, once we have met the goal, we can surprise him. The goal is $1000, which I figure is enough for a decent set of basic machines delivered and installed. I implore all who read this, please help me to help my friend who is more than deserving of the love and assistance we can give him. I believe in the power of community and I hope you do too.
Let's come together and help one of our own.
Blessings to all
