The choice every horse owner dreads and one we are never fully prepared to make. Some may not agree with this decision (and if they do not, please do not read on or share).
Surgery was indicated to save my horse's life. She had a strangulation colic. The expense of the care she needs is upwards of 15k, and I will do whatever it takes to give her the chance she deserves.
The team of amazing vets believed she would have a favorable outcome if we got her to surgery quickly. This was my decision and one I will take full responsibility for. I am also grateful for any help my equine and farrier community can offer.
This horse is the reason I am a farrier. She has gotten me through some incredibly tough times, she has taught countless people of all ages, and is loved by many for the gentle and sweet girl she is.
Molly is my family, and the only horse I will ever own. My goal is to give her a solid chance of recovery and another 10-15 years of being loved, she is loved by many in her community and is a horse that truly loves her humans back. She is a fighter and has a good chance of living that long happy life she deserves. Covering the cost of her surgery and treatment is my responsibility and my choice, and your support of any amount would have an impact I would be incredibly grateful and blessed to put towards her treatment.
UPDATE from day 14 post op!
Molly made it through the critical period and is home! She did amazingly well in recovery, receiving the best care and remaining brave and trusting through the days of uncertainty. Molly is now continuing her recovery at home, on stall rest for a few weeks and receiving lots of special attention, hand walks and grooming sessions. She came into heat as soon as we got back and has been strutting and flirting with all the boys on her walks.
I am moved and beyond grateful, to everyone who has helped us through this ordeal: thank you endlessly!! ! Every little bit helps! We are still gratefully accepting donations for a few more days
