Support Emily's Urgent Medical Needs and Surgery

Hi, I’m Emily. I’m an independent, resourceful, and hard working single mother of three amazing kids. If you know me, you know how extremely difficult it is for me to ask for help like this. However, I need a village to help me get necessary surgery and treatment. So I’m putting it all out there.

On February 1, I woke up and I noticed my stomach didn’t look right. There was a large protruding hard ball. I was able to see my doctor on February 18th. She did an exam and told me she could feel a large mass. Tests done on 2/20 and 2/21 showed a large fibroid 11cm in my uterus and a large cyst 7cm in my ovary. This actually made some sense of long term and new issues I have been living with. I was referred to GYN for a surgical consult and met my surgeon today on 2/25. He has ordered an MRI and more extensive bloodwork. I have an appointment with him on 3/11 to have a Hysteroscopy and biopsies. I was given information on my surgical options which will require me to pay my entire annual out of pocket max. I asked about the timeframe we had to work with and was informed this needs to be addressed in weeks, not months, to prevent further growth and symptoms.

This is where I am desperately needing help. I have health insurance with a $9200 out of pocket max. I have already spent what little money I did have on medical testing to date. I work full time in addition to side jobs, but it’s been hard the last couple of years and I have nothing to fall back on to cover these expenses. I am quite literally paycheck to paycheck to support me and my kids. This is becoming quite overwhelming as I must cover the upcoming tests and the surgery prior to these being done or they will not happen.

My small but amazing support system has been helping me plan and prepare and ensure all the numerous appointments I’ve had were covered. I have a supportive job. I have help to be there when I come home. My emotional support is top notch. It’s financially getting the remaining medical testing and getting into the operating room that I can’t solve.
