On April 14, 2026, our 1yr old son was taken to the hospital as a precaution after accidentally eating something he shouldn’t have. At first, everything seemed okay—he was smiling, laughing, and interacting with the nurses and staff during intake and assessment.
However, while receiving an IV for fluids, he suddenly had a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. He required immediate resuscitation and was unresponsive for a total of 29 minutes before doctors were able to bring him back. It was a terrifying moment that changed everything in an instant.
Since then, our family has been on an emotional and mental roller coaster. On April 16, he began experiencing repeated seizures. He had to be sedated again and was transferred to Driscoll Children’s Hospital for specialized care. Once there, the focus shifted to controlling the seizures, which continued even while he was sedated.
Doctors ultimately determined that placing him in a medically induced coma would give his brain the best chance to rest and heal. By the grace of God, he has since come out of the coma and is now responding. While this is a huge step forward, there are still effects that need to be closely monitored, and his recovery journey is far from over.
It has now been nearly two weeks in the hospital, and we are facing what could be several more weeks of ongoing treatment, testing, and care.
During this time, my wife and I have both been unable to work. Our employers have been incredibly understanding, but unfortunately, life’s expenses don’t pause in times of crisis. We are doing everything we can to stay strong for our son, but the financial strain is growing.
We are asking for support to help cover essential expenses such as our mortgage, car payments, medical bills, and daily living costs—expenses our budget simply wasn’t prepared for under these circumstances. This support will allow us to focus fully on what matters most: our son’s healing and recovery.
We are deeply grateful for any help, prayers, or shares. Thank you for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time.
