I’m fundraising on behalf of my mom, Aggie. Last year my mom when my mom first got sick (I’ll get to those details later) our home situation grew to be much higher than we could afford and we were forced to find a new home. Aggie was approved for a small, affordable apartment with all of the safety features necessary to live comfortably while being a stone’s throw away from her doctors & hospital. When we moved in we were charged double the quoted move-in rate by the hired moving company, causing our rent check to bounce. We were informed by our current apartment complex that it didn’t matter if we paid future rents on time, if we had a balance above $0 it could not be carried into the next month and we would be evicted. So that’s exactly what happened, we’re now being charged $6,796.52 in order to stay in our home and if we cannot come up with it we will lose everything. We were told they’d change the locks and put our belongings on the curb. We would not even be allowed onto the property to retrieve our belongings. The worst part of all of this is that my mom, Aggie, needs a defibrillator to save her life. She has cardio myopathy after a horrendous bought of Covid, which turned into bacterial pneumonia, and while being treated for those illnesses it was found that she suffered a silent heart attack which kept her in the hospital for 2 weeks and out of work for 6 months. After finally receiving her heart catheterization she’s in line for a defibrillator, however, they will not perform the surgery if we don’t have a home. In order for my mom to get this life saving surgery, she needs to have a settled in home to be discharged to. We can afford the monthly rent here just fine, but, without that back rent paid we cannot stay. I absolutely hate that it has come to this but I am so desperate to save my mom’s life and our home together that I don’t know where else to turn. If you can donate, your contribution would be so greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, it would be so greatly appreciated if you can share our story, Aggie’s story, and keep us in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
