Hi, my name is Raymond and I am fundraising on behalf of my father Pete Xaypasat.
Pete is a 59 year old Lao immigrant who came to Oakland when he was just 17. He’s been working two jobs at the Hotel Doubletree by Marriott and The Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley ever since he arrived. Taking on jobs such as dishwashing, line cook, banquet cook, chef de cuisine, etc. He loves his job and the people he works with so much that he has continued to stay with them for close to 40 years. He’s been such an amazing father to my brother and I, a wonderful husband, and recently became a grandfather. He has worked very hard his whole life to create a better life for his family here and his family back in Laos, continuing to send money back home every month. If you’ve ever met my dad you have definitely felt his love and kindness that he spreads to everyone he meets.
On July 4th, Pete was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Oakland and was in the ICU on life support for 2 long weeks. While fighting for his life, I was told many times that he wasn’t gonna make it. Without disclosing too much information for the privacy of my father, he pulled through and is finally back at home resting. However, Pete is in for a long road to recovery and is needing funds for himself to rest and recuperate without worrying heavily about bills, rent, medical expenses, and all other expenses that come with living in the bay area. He is currently on medical leave and unable to work until at least October.
This fundraiser will go towards month-to-month expenses, as well as the surmounting medical bills that are coming through. My father deserves nothing more than to focus solely a strong recovery and the path ahead, not the expenses that come with. Truly anything helps, and we sincerely appreciate any funds, well wishes and kind words that come our way. If you do choose to donate and could leave a message, I know it’ll make him very happy.
Thanks ❤️
