Charlie’s Angels

To all of our friends, family and loved ones. We ask for prayers, lots & lots of prayers. My sister had to take my nephew Charlie to the Dr Thursday because of having a hard time breathing, a very high pulse rate and very high blood pressure. They did some tests and immediately told her to go to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

After a lot of testing we found out Thursday evening that Charlie has Leukemia. He’s been in the hospital since then. They had to get his hemoglobin and platelets up to do a surgery to put in a port, do a lumbar puncture and a bone marrow biopsy.  While in surgery they were also able to inject chemotherapy into his spine. We got the definitive results that Charlie has Pre B-Cell ALL, which is pre b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Charlie started his first round of chemotherapy Sunday night and he'll get a second round tomorrow. It's been very hard for him. We're trying to get ahead of the pain and nausea. It's going to be a long road and fight. Treatment takes about 3 years. We're optimistic and hopeful, we've been told that if a child has to get cancer pre b-cell ALL is the one to get, with over a 90% success rate.

We ask for prayers for Charlie, his parents, our family and all of the doctors and nurses helping him. It's a total shock and not at all what we were expecting. And with COVID only his Mom and Dad are allowed to see him, and even that has to be at separate times. Please send up lots of prayers as we navigate through this and help Charlie. 

My sister will be taking FMLA so she can be with Charlie and will also have to pay out of pocket for insurance.  This is on top of the added medical expenses they will encounter.  We have faith that God will provide and take care of his children.   Our goal is to remove as many obstacles as possible so that they can focus on Charlie getting the attention and care that he needs.   Thank you and we love y’all.
