Overcoming infertility - A journey to Baby Hale

Donation protected
All my life I have known that I wanted to be a mother. When Kameron and I got married in 2015, we were both excited and hopeful that we would soon be a family of 3. Unfortunately, it hasn’t come that easy.

We tried naturally for a while but when we were unsuccessful, we decided to finally see a doctor. The initial rounds of testing were all normal which gave us hope. But in January of 2018, we suffered a miscarriage which put things on hold to allow us time to heal from the pain. And now, after 2 years of testing, monitoring and several medicated cycles we have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.

One in 8 women suffer from infertility and 15% of those women are diagnosed as unexplained. Sometimes, I think that has been the hardest part of the journey. With me being an ER nurse, my natural instinct is to find the problem and figure out a way to treat it. Unfortunately, unexplained infertility is just that, unexplained. That means that no matter how hard we try, there isn’t a problem “to fix.”

Lucky for us, Kameron and I have never backed down from a challenge. We’ve been through our share of trials, and even though this may be one of the toughest ones yet, we have decided to push forward and pursue IVF.  But unfortunately, not only is IVF emotionally and physically exhausting, it is also incredibly expensive and isn’t covered by insurance.

Fertility may still be a taboo topic of conversation, but there’s no reason that it should be. We need to support each other and not allow the shame, guilt or embarrassment of infertility to overtake us. Kameron and I wouldn’t have the courage to go through with IVF without the immense love from our friends and family. And I hope that by sharing our story, others can be encouraged to push forward and not give up.

Asking for help isn’t something that comes naturally to us, but we recognize that right now, we need it. And whether that help comes in the form of donations, prayers or simply just sharing our story, please know that it is appreciated.

Thank you, for helping us to make our dream become a reality.
