Johnny & Amanda’s Story
Hi, my name is Johnny Paulsen, and I’m reaching out for help for my wife, Amanda, and myself during one of the hardest times we’ve ever faced.
About two months ago, Amanda was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in her neck and tonsil cancer. It’s been incredibly tough — she’s in pain, struggles to talk and swallow, and we’re preparing for her upcoming surgery at the end of this month, followed by chemo and radiation treatments.
Even though we have insurance, it doesn’t cover the surgery, and the cost of traveling regularly from Myrtle Beach to Charleston for doctor visits and treatments is adding up quickly.
On top of that, we both work hard to keep things going. We run a small flooring business, and we both also deliver for Domino’s part-time to make ends meet.
Then, on October 1st, things took another heartbreaking turn. While I was out delivering a pizza to a townhome, someone stole my truck. We managed to track it using GPS, but when it was found, it had been abandoned on the side of the highway — and the engine was blown because the thief had been speeding with it in 4-wheel drive.
Our insurance doesn’t cover theft or the damage, so we’re on our own. The truck may have been older, but it was new to me — and it meant a lot. We also depend on that truck for both our flooring work and our delivery jobs, so losing it has hit us hard financially.
We’re doing our best to stay strong and keep faith through all this, but it’s been overwhelming. Any help — whether it’s a donation or sharing our story — would mean the world to us right now.
Thank you so much for reading, caring, and supporting us during this difficult time. ❤️
— Johnny
