We have a situation in Nevada involving a woman who purchased a bitch on a spay contract. She then acquired a male from the Czech Republic. In a very short amount of time, the woman bred 3 litters, ages 17 months, 11 months, and 14 weeks. Some puppies from the first litter were placed. Others were kept in unsanitary and cruel confinement. The second litter was rescued and puppies were placed in good homes.
We have rescued 7 puppies from the 3rd litter and 3 17 month-old adults from the first litter. There are still 5 or 6 adults to rescue. The puppies, thankfully, are fine and going to loving homes by the end of this weekend. The adults were surrendered in terrible condition: One male had puncture wounds on one front leg supposedly from a neighbor's pit bull attack, was totally matted and filthy, and had a foot abscess from lack of care and foot mats; the female had to be completely shaved and had mats that made it nearly impossible for her to urinate. The second male was totally shut down and had to be sedated in order to be checked by the vet. He has been groomed: there were stones matted between his toes, in his ears, and in other places that made it difficult to move his bowels. None of the adults have been vaccinated: no parvo, no rabies, etc.
All 7 puppies and the 3 adults have accrued vet care bills of well over $1000. There are 5 more adults to rescue. The individuals who have the dogs in hand are just regular people spending their own money. They need our help defraying veterinary expenses.
The puppies all have homes. The 3 adults will go to the Briard Rescue Haven as soon as they can travel.
The individuals in question have applied to the Briard Rescue Trust for funds but the Trust cannot cover everything.
Your generous donations will help defray medical expenses and give us a start on the expenses for the remaining 5 dogs who will be rescued ASAP. If we do not use all of your donations directly for the dogs, whatever is left will be given to the Briard Rescue Haven for the care of these dogs.
