Renee’s Breast Cancer Journey

Donation protected
Hello everyone! I’m fundraising for my life long friend, Renee, in her journey of healing and health as a result of her late stage breast cancer diagnosis.

What do you think breast cancer looks like? When you see Renee, you might think to yourself “she looks so healthy. “

Many of you know her as an adventurous, free spirit who loves Jesus, her family, her friends and her country. She has a zest for life that inspires those around her. She shows kindness and goodness to all those who cross her path. She’s never met a sunset or a beach she didn’t like and can find the beauty in any situation.

Renee shares 8 beautiful children and grandson with the love of her life, Kenny. Renee and Kenny have a million more adventures planned, which will require her recovery with your help.

Back in September of 2023, Renee felt a swollen lymph node under her right arm and by December the diagnosis had come in from Moffitt Cancer Center that she had late stage Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and that she was NOT a candidate for surgery. Renee, not liking that diagnosis, went for a second opinion at Shands Hospital, where she was told she DID have hope, but without chemotherapy, radiation and a Radical Mastectomy, she would not survive.

Due to a change in jobs and the insurance at the new job being DOUBLE what it was at Kenny’s previous job, they found themselves, like many Americans, without health insurance. Shands has been wonderful in allowing her and (Kenny) to make payments on treatments already received, however, they do not allow payments on the chemo. It must be paid all upfront. As you can imagine, chemo is very expensive. As a result, Shands immediately canceled all of her chemo treatments. In an attempt to slow the progression of the rapidly growing cancer, her oncologist has opted to go ahead and try radiation while waiting on her ability to receive the chemo treatment she needs. The hope is that they can slow the growth down and shrink it enough to have the surgery. If the radiation does not shrink it, she will not be eligible for surgery. Kenny and Renee are now accruing medical expenses faster than they will ever be able to pay them, as they are just starting this fight.

How you can help

If you are able to donate, Kenny and Renee would be eternally grateful as it would make this most difficult time much easier on them. If you are unable to donate, please share this page with everyone you know and kindly say a prayer for them as they rely heavily on their faith.

The reason for this fundraiser is that there are areas of need that most people, hopefully, will never have to consider.

◦ Travel cost, gas for daily treatments
◦ Parking during appointments
◦ Specific foods and nutrition
◦ Medicines, and supplements
◦ Supplies for managing side effects
◦ Home-care
◦ Physical therapy before during and
after treatments
◦ Lab test, specialist
◦ Imaging, x-rays, CT scans, MRIs,
mammograms, pet scans, etc.
◦ Hospital Stays

Thank you and God bless you,
