Wednesday afternoon my brother, Sam Manees felt a pop in his chest while he was sitting on the couch, followed by pain they went up into his neck,  Sam called his wife Katie and she took him up to st. Mary’s hospital where they diagnosed him with an aortic tear in his heart. The hospital decided to rush Sam to UOFM hospital where the cardiovascular team decided to send him into open heart surgery. When the surgeon got in, she realized that the tear was much worse than suspected and Sam was under anesthesia for over 10 hours.  The trauma from the surgery caused Sam to have a stroke and 75% of his brain was damaged. The doctors said there would be no good quality of life.  Sam was the most gentle, generous and caring person, he was the most amazing husband to Katie, brother to myself and son to my mom, along with being a great friend to so many.  If you can donate to help Katie get through this very tough time, please do!
