Hello everyone,

I am Christopher Hastings and I have made this account for my loving mother, Monik Williams. She is an amazing single mother, aunt, daughter, granddaughter, cousin and friend that is a true giver. Her compassion for people has been seen and felt by others her entire life. Simply put, my mother is the type of woman that would give you the shirt off her back if you are in need. Now, she’s the one in need after a traumatic medical emergency that has changed her life and our family’s life forever.

On August 3, 2019, our world took a devastating turn. Monik had a stroke that left her in the ICU for a few days. After she was downgraded from ICU, we were all thankful that our prayers had been answered. God kept her here, but we all knew our life journey would be different moving forward. The reality hit us that there was no sure timeframe given by the doctors regarding her full recovery and total healing.

As a dependent college student-Athlete and as my mother’s eldest son, this is extremely hard to see and endure. Unfortunately, I have to leave for school in two weeks and it burdensome for me to leave my mother in this unstable condition. As a catering entrepreneur, my mother has no source of income during this unexpected medical emergency that has left her unable to work. She can’t even walk to our family room without getting tired.

Truly, this road to recovery is going to be complicated and as the provider for six children it is hard for my mom to rest and have real peace knowing we need things in our everyday lives. Monik is a fighter and is fighting every single day to get better. However, my mom and our family is just in the beginning days of this journey. It will be a long, winding road ahead, but we will always have our eyes up and never down, always looking for the light at the end of the tunnel while trusting GOD!!!
