Our “friend to all,” Jennifer Larabee, was diagnosed with Invasive Doctoral Carcinoma (breast cancer) on February 6th. After many tests and much waiting, her treatment began March 17 with her first round of chemotherapy. She will endure eight rounds of chemo over four months, and at that point, doctors will decide what to do next. Radiation and/or surgery are treatments she is likely to face.

The timing of cancer is never anticipated, always scary and stressful, but the Coronavirus has added a layer of guilt for Jennifer. She feels guilty asking for the support she needs when the whole world is anxious about the global pandemic. It is good to know that in the midst of this uncertainty, she’s surrounded and supported by her family, friends and long-time boyfriend Steve.

As many of you know, Jennifer has been a much-loved hairdresser for more than 25 years and recently began supplementing her income as a Barista at Starbucks. She is a woman who makes lists and enjoys checking off her "to-dos,” and this journey has been no different.  She worked hard to take in the treatment information, make her lists and move her clients to weeks when she would feel better to work. Unfortunately, the Global Pandemic has caused her to lose both sources of income.  

Jennifer will use the funds to help her with her monthly financial obligations. The support will help relieve the financial burdens, so she can rest and focus her energy on letting the medicine do its job, keeping her positive attitude, and taking care of her body.
