Hope for Alyssa
For all of us that know Alyssa-she is a warm kind hearted young woman whos loving spirit and funny comments always put a smile on everyones face. Since the age of 6, Alyssa has struggled with multiple medical illnesses which resulted in numerous hospital stays and a daily regimen of medications. Through everything Alyssa remained strong enduring the pain and daily struggles of her illnesses. She’s the only person I know who would thank a nurse/ doctor after receiving a shot! Most recently Alyssa is facing another obstacle in her life-mental illness. We have seen multiple doctors and tried multiple medications and have not been able to find the right one. Each medicine either doesnt work or has a horrible side effect that is leaving her to struggle on a daily basis. That bright loving spirit of hers continues to dim with each passing day. Someone shared a video with us about something that Alyssa may truly benefit from. It’s called a SPECT TEST. Unlike most Psychiatrists who diagnose patients based off of symptoms, this test allows the Psychiatrist to examine the brain and base a diagnosis off an image as opposed to just guessing what medication “might” work . In turn, they are then able to treat the ACTUAL problem in the brain that that specific patient is suffering from. Of course, this diagnostic test is not covered by insurance. The test as well as follow up doctors visits are all out of pocket expenses. At this time we are asking for prayers that Alyssa will overcome this battle and will continue to bless all of those around her.
