Dear Friends,
We are seeking your help to support a cause that matters. Seven Benedictine monks will embark on a challenging, prayerful 250km walk from the Priory to Knock Shrine with the aim of raising awareness and trusting in your support for the restoration of Silverstream Priory. The plight of this Priory is not just about maintaining a building but also preserving a sanctuary for prayer, contemplation, and the formation of future monks.
Over two decades ago the Religious who once occupied the Priory moved to another location. The Priory became vacant for 10 years resulting in a serious deterioration of the building. Despite the challenging and dilapidated condition of the Priory, a couple of Benedictine monks moved in and established this hearth of adoration in Ireland.
Since then, many young men have joined, praying and diligently working towards their aspiration of becoming Benedictine monks. Currently, the Priory faces the heartening prospect of many young men seeking to join its ranks. However, the structure needs attention as cracks in the walls have grown in size and severity. Immediate action is essential to mitigate further deterioration and ensure the safety and stability of Silverstream Priory. Moreover, space is a real issue as the numbers in the community increase and more guests seek to visit.
There is an urgent need of financial help for Silverstream Priory and there are various ways people can support, whether it's through donations, and or spreading the word. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in ensuring the continuity and vitality of this sacred space. Every little helps.
If you're able, consider reaching out to local communities and social media networks to further raise awareness and gather support.
It’s inspiring to witness individuals coming together to support a cause that embodies values of faith, community, and tradition.
With heartfelt gratitude
