Keep My Brother in College

Donation protected
My name is Sarah and I'm creating this for my younger brother, Dave. I am normally one to refuse assistance always being able to take care of things, but right now I'm at a major loss and I need help. I am asking for help because I cannot afford to put Dave through college as well as take care of our other 13 year-old brother and handicapped grandmother all by myself.

Dave just started his freshman year Arizona State University to become an airline pilot, while I am halfway through my final year of college, also at ASU. Dave is an amazing pilot already, impressing not only his teachers, but his flight instructors as well with his natural talent and gift for flying. He's already progressing far ahead of his colleagues in most of his classes.

The issue is, our mother, Kerri, just abandoned us. Yes, I am 21 and Dave is 18, and yes we both do work as much as possible at a restaurant without letting our grades falter, but no serving job can afford what our mother was taking care of. Kerri has been in and out of jail our entire lives, leaving us kids in the care of our amazing grandmother. She has stolen people's identity, written fraud checks, been in jail over half of Dave's and my life, over 3/4 of our younger brother's life. She steals the money and does the things she does for one reason- selfishness. We were constantly reminded of the burdens that we were on her life, causing her "more bills than happiness." Thankfully our grandmother was always there to fight for us, keeping our mother from moving out with her lack-luster, abusive boyfriends. This time is different- it's worse.

Kerri, our mother, left from our home yesterday, running off to marry the man that loves her so much more than us- the same man that put a knife to her throat and that the family already has a restraining order against. I'm now left with a 13 year old brother that is crushed from his mother leaving him AGAIN, a grandmother that is heartbroken and unable to work to support any bills, and Dave, who just started to get his future on track but is now faced with $700 a week in flight lessons that he must pay to continue being enrolled in his ASU classes. Oh, and did I mention that my mother also stole my identity as well, causing me around $27,000 in fraud credit card debt? My pristine credit score is torn to shreds- I can't even open a checking account, let alone take out a personal loan.

I love my brothers and grandmother so much and want to do everything that I can to make sure that they're safe. We're the only family we have left. I'm in the process of selling my horse, instruments, and most everything I can in our house to cover bills until I can quit school to work full time somewhere (me being able to finish my last semester is basically not an option with the amount of money I make). This page- this plea for help- will solely be used to help get Dave through his flight lessons every week so he can go on and become someone great in life. Any money that is left over will be put into a trust fund for my younger brother so that he does not have to have to worry about his future as much as I am right now.

While I feel that my chances of the future I wanted are now shattered and gone, I refuse to let these boys suffer from my mother's selfish, horrible actions. But I realize that I cannot do this alone. I need help. I have no one else to ask.

Our grandmother has raised us kids to be strong, independant, and to strive for what we want, but to never lose a warm heart. We are all we have ever had. I love these boys as my own kids and I will give up everhything to make sure they can have the lives they want. To receive any help would be more than a blessing; it's literally saving my brothers from being taken away from their normal lives. It would be savior.
